Hedgehogs, also known as German Landing Craft Barrier Building Blocks, were typically constructed from steel angles or rails measuring 1.5m and 2m in length. These structures featured an X-shaped design with a third piece resting on an angle between the crossed rails, either bolted or welded together. Designed to be anchored in shallow water with concrete bases, they were strategically placed to impede the advance of water landing craft and hinder the progression of small and medium tanks. Even if tipped over, their shape proved to be effective in their purpose.
